We provide a wheelchair-friendly, door-to-door transport service covering Newcastle and the surrounding area.
Newcastle Community Transport is a well-known community charity. Founded in 1974, we have a long track record of helping local people with mobility issues. We rely on our brilliant volunteers to drive our minibuses and also look after the backroom jobs that keep us on the road.
Public buses and taxis often provide only a kerb to kerb service, and this can be a problem if you have mobility issues. Newcastle Community Transport (NCT) is different. Our friendly drivers can help you get to and from our minibuses. For the elderly and disabled, our door-to-door service can be a much-needed lifeline.

Booking and cancellations
Please get in touch at least 7 days before any planned trip. All our drivers are volunteers, so we try to give them advance warning of when we need their help. But if you have to make a last minute booking, call us on 01782 627770 and we will try to help if possible. If you have to cancel a trip, please let us know 24 hours’ beforehand, to avoid any inconvenience to our drivers and other customers.
Our office is open weekday mornings between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm. If we can’t get to the phone when you call, please leave a message and we will get back to you.
Payment
Our customer fees are designed to be affordable and easy to pay. If you use our friendly community transport service, we’ll send you a bill a few weeks into the following month after your trip. This can be paid by cheque or through your bank electronically. Or if neither of these options works for you, we can pop round at a later date to collect the payment.
Please remember that our drivers do not handle cash.
